Rigor Mortis (Chapter 1)
A downloadable visual novel for Windows, macOS, and Linux
A visual novel for goths of all stripes who are surviving under late-stage capitalism. Discover the adventures of Lunis Culpeper, 12-year-old newlydead, as she learns about (un)life in the (under)world the hard way.
Updates will come eventually. Please enjoy the free Chapter 1, for now. Donations to help cover costs of production are appreciated.
Currently featuring:
- 4,900 words of low-key slice-of-death drama
- Little undead girls
- A sexy vampire
- A pleasant and original Cascadian underworld setting
- 100% original hand-drawn art
Rigor Mortis is steered by a two-person team, Doll and Hannah. Additional contributors are noted in the in-game credits.
Influenced by, and possibly even for fans of:
- Cartoon Cartoons and 2000s-era Nicktoons (The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold!, you get the idea)
- Lenore, The Cute Little Dead Girl
- Dead Like Me
- American Splendor
- Interview with the Vampire
- Jhonen Vasquez
- Infinity Train
Please note, Rigor Mortis is a story deeply concerned with death and trauma, and contains graphic depictions of the same.

the character dynamics are really funny and I loooove the backgrounds. I've been coming to terms with different kinds of death... it would be nice to process this stuff outside or other-from. on that note, I liked how grounded the writing here was. I wanted more... good stuff!
HOLO! I miss you! Add me on discord or bluesky so we can catch up. I was really excited to see that you put a game out! I'll try to play this soon! Congrats about getting a game out there!! :D :D :D
This was so delightful—my friends in high school would have been obsessed with it if it had been around back then and waiting on tenterhooks for new chapters. As it is, I’m excited to see where this goes!
Congrats on the release! The art really does an impressive job making it feel like you're immersed in a goth cartoon world, and I'm excited to read the next episode
